Filipino volleyball fans get to be treated with more world-class actions as the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) won the rights to host the 19th Asian Senior Women’s Championship set in August 2017.

This latest development in volleyball was relayed by LVPI vice-president Peter Cayco, whose school, Arellano University, will serve as the national training center for the Philippine national pool.

“The (Asian Women’s) tournament will serve as our final preparation for the 2018 Indonesia SEA Games,” said Cayco.

Cayco said volleyball is a growing sport in the country and LVPI will make sure that it will continue to grow in popularity and participation.

Most of the country’s highly popular lady players come from the Philippine Superliga, which is hosting the ongoing Asian Women’s Club Championship at the Alonte Arena in Binan, Laguna.

In October, the FIVB World Women’s Club Championship will take place at the MOA Arena.

Olympic champion Brazil is expected to make the trip to the Philippines and defend the Asian title.

Other teams expected to join are Iran, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Australia, Fiji, India, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Japan, Vietnam, Mongolia and South Korea.
